RADICAL ACCEPTANCE FOR THE PETTILY RESENTFUL

A meditation for those who have forgiven nothing, and don’t plan to.

Acceptance Is Not Acquittal

You were wronged. It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t minor. It wasn’t a “lesson.” It was inconveniently character-forming, and now your personality is 17% sarcasm and 83% restraint. This is not bitterness. This is memory doing what it does best. You don't want revenge. You want an apology and a small audience. You won't get either. Accept that.

Accept That You’re Right

You were right. They were wrong. This is not a growth opportunity. This is a scar. You don’t need to rise above it. You already did. You're still standing. They're still ridiculous. That's justice enough.

Acceptance ≠ Approval

You’re not making peace. You’re making room. Room for the part of you that still wants them to step in gum in front of someone they’re trying to impress. You do not condone. You simply continue. That’s acceptance. Anything more is performative sainthood.

Your Higher Self Is Not a Doormat

Your higher self does not have to send light. Your higher self does not have to take the high road in traffic. Your higher self is not required to find this beautiful. Your higher self remembers everything and is done pretending that transcendence requires amnesia.

Forgiveness Is a Hobby, Not a Requirement

You are not required to forgive. You are not required to forget. You are not required to release your resentment just because it makes other people uncomfortable. Some grudges are heirlooms. Polish accordingly.
