THE salon

conversation sharpened, not styled.

Modern culture performs pageantry

mistaken for truth.

 Spectacle replaces clarity.

Here, it doesn’t.

Essays are in the Library - complimentary, always.

Curated volumes and artifacts reside in

the collections.

SELECTED ESSAYS

THE THEATRE OF THE THUMB

It begins with a twitch — not of conscience, but of tendon. A minor impulse, a trained reflex, that drags the bright world of the stage into the narrow corridor of a vertical screen.

🝰

Here, the performers are not actors but algorithms, and the audience is infinite, scrolling in both directions, endlessly auditioning for itself.

🝰

The curtain never falls. It merely slides down to the next clip, the next hot take, the next triumphant display of curated spontaneity.
🝰

Applause has been replaced by engagement metrics, standing ovations by subscriber counts, and the role of critic outsourced to the swarm.

🝰

In this theatre, velocity is virtue, and attention is the only ticket worth tearing.
🝰

What remains, then, for those who linger? Perhaps only the unmediated thought — rare, fleeting — before the thumb descends again, pulling us into the next act of a play that never asked for our names.✒️

WE ARE NOT JAM

Somewhere along the way, aging stopped being a branding problem. We are no longer old. We are seasoned. Distinguished. Dynamically mature.

A whole industry now exists to convince us that wrinkles are defects, slowing down is failure, and time itself requires intervention. The language grows softer while the message grows louder: preserve, optimize, correct, improve.

⟡⟡⟡

Beneath the creams, supplements, procedures, and euphemisms sits a peculiar assumption—that human beings are products approaching their expiration date.

⟡⟡⟡

But perhaps the problem isn't aging. Perhaps the problem is the refusal to name it. In a culture determined to rebrand every wrinkle and apologize for every passing year, one uncomfortable proposition remains: we are not jars on a shelf awaiting preservation.✒️
